Kilchoman 100% Islay Ninth Edition 70cl 50%
The 9th Edition of Kilchoman’s annual 100% Islay release! This expression was distilled from 2007 and 2009 barley crops grown on Islay, and you can even trace the origins back to the barley variety, field and farmer who planted it. Truly local provenance
This edition was matured in American oak bourbon barrels for nine years in the on-site dunnage warehouses before it was bottled at 50% ABV, with a limited run of 12,000 bottles. As with all 100% Islay releases, it only weighs in at 20ppm compared to Kilchoman’s usual 50ppm, allowing the tropical notes from the bourbon barrel can really shine through.
Nose: Orange blossom, apricot jam, a woody, piney note and kitchen herbs, with a touch of candied citrus.
Palate: Lemon drizzle cake, boatloads of tropical fruit, with overripe banana, a drizzle of honey and whisps of maritime smoke alongside slightly burnt orchard fruit crumble.
Finish: Oily malt on a clean finish with sweet fruit and smoke intertwined.
