Winter is coming once again and this time it’s the final countdown to the war between Westeros and those pesky ice-zombies. To alleviate the period of waiting, HBO teamed up with DIAGEO, forged eight rare Scotches and paired them with the royal Houses of Westeros. Each bottle tells a wonderful story about one of the Seven Kingdoms and each has a character so unique, we’re afraid the Writer might kill it off. It’s time to bring some medieval intrigue to your home bar and hum the intro theme.

HOUSE TARGARYEN

Fire and Bloody Hell This Scotch Is Fantastic.

A bottle of Cardhu is a descendant of Scotland’s own Daenerys, Helen Cumming, who was together with her daughter-in-law Elizabeth a badass Whisky-maker in the industry dominated entirely by men. HOUSE LANNISTER

LAGAVULIN 9 YEARS OLD

A chalice of Scotch for powerful dynasties.

The flask adorned with a roaring royal lion evokes the riches of King’s Landing and the lavish lifestyle of the Lannisters. The ancient Islay distillery of Lagavulin is a perfect choice to celebrate the persistent and crafty royal family that shares a motto with Katy Perry, saying “Hear Me Roar!” A Lannister supposedly always pays his debts, but one thing is for sure: a Lagavulin always makes your day. House Baratheon: Ours is the savory.

This rampant stag-adorned bottle of golden delight coming from the Highlands and celebrating House Baratheon is a rich and oaky Spirit worthy of a royal family. While Robert Baratheon would probably go on a bender with it, Royal Lochnagar was granted a Royal Warrant back in 1848 when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited the distillery. No boar-related stories, but Vicky obviously loved the Scotch. This 12-year-old is a lovely balance of fruits and spices and if you respect the Stag’s banner, you’ll enjoy it neat.

The golden liquid in this bottle was concocted on the banks of the River Fiddich in the woods of Dufftown, where the cleanest water becomes the Spirit’s blood while a water wheel turns the river into power. The liquid inside was created in the most rugged and remote area of Scotland, on the shores of the Isle of Skye, where one can hear the deep humming of the Kraken. The maritime character of Talisker Select Reserve will teleport you straight to the Castle Pyke where the air is salty with high possibility of Ramsays. HOUSE STARK

DALWHINNIE WINTER’S FROST

Winterfell Scotch, hot as deepest ice.

Winter is coming once again and this time it’s the final countdown to the war between Westeros and those pesky ice-zombies. It’s time to bring some medieval intrigue to your home bar and hum the intro theme.

Winter is coming in a bottle and one should treat this frosty Whisky that way. From Scotland’s Highest and coldest distillery comes a wonderful Scotch Whisky distilled in harsh winter and it has a rugged character that represents House Stark. It’s intended to be served from the freezer, bringing out rich and smooth taste of honey with a hint of peat. We imagine a cask of Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost sitting in cellar of Winterfell. It’s sweet as Sansa and ferocious as Arya. It can’t be tamed but its flavors will make you lose your head (geddit?).
